Over
5,000 children from school districts throughout the Bay Area visit Sun Gallery
each year. There each student experiences and learns about art in a exciting,
comprehensive and personally rewarding way. Sun gallery is committed to
the concept of interactive learning. Students take part in active discussions
as they explore the exhibit, led by Sun Gallery's art educator, Grace Banares,
and docents. They learn art principles and vocabulary, all the while encouraged
to ask questions and to share their impressions.
The field trip culminates in our art studio classroom, where each student creates a hand-on art project. Under the direction of the art educator, young artists create a piece that relates to work seen in the gallery tour. The creative experience in our classroom provides students with a personal and individual work of art to take home, one they can proudly share with family members.
Field trips can be scheduled for morning or afternoon slots (with starting times between 9 and 10 a.m. and between noon and 1 p.m.) Tuesday through Friday. The entire field trip experience — the Sun Gallery exhibition tour and the hands-on art project — is ninety minutes in duration.
- You may schedule a field trip by telephone, by mail, in person or by FAX.
- Sun Gallery's field trip fee is $120 per class (30 students or fewer), which includes all materials and instruction.
- Our facility can accommodate only one class at a time; we cannot book multiple tours.
- Field trip fees are non-refundable. Re-scheduling is permitted on a space-available basis.
Shortly after you schedule a Sun Gallery field trip, you will receive an invoice by mail. Please pay for your field trip from this invoice. Payment maybe made by cash, credit card or check (payable to Sun Gallery). A confirmation and receipt will be sent to you as soon as payment is received, and a few field trip guidelines will be included at that time. Payments are due at least three weeks in advance and must be paid before you arrive for your field trip.

Teachers are always welcome to preview the exhibit during our gallery hours, Wednesday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
